But all finally looks right in the world of Sony and the PlayStation 3, if the latest sales numbers to come out of Japan are anything to go by. According to the latest report, the Sony PlayStation 3 Slim sold 150,252 units in its first three days of sale.

That’s phenomenal. It’s not only a great week for the PlayStation 3 Slim… it’s the best week for the PlayStation 3 all around, which has never sold that many consoles in a three day period before.

And to be honest? Sony deserves it. Although they’ve squandered the market dominance of the last generation, the PlayStation 3 Slim is a wonderful update to the original console that addresses both the earlier console’s aesthetic problems, its inflated price and the confusing nature of its labyrinthian mass of differently featured SKUs.

The current console generation is finally getting simple for the end consumer across the board, nearly three years after Nintendo made simplicity the cornerstone of their philosophy. It’s about time Microsoft and Sony made things as easy.
